The Kane County Assessor’s Office is responsible for listing and valuing all property, both real and personal, that is subject to taxation as set forth by statute. For additional information on the Assessor’s Office functions, please see the FAQ’s link.

Business Personal Property Payment Information - Temporary Ordinance. Temporary Ordinance 2020-11 was passed by our county commission 04-21-2020.  The ordinance will allow us the ability to waive penalties and interest for late personal property filings.  We encourage everyone to file at least their signed statement by the May 15 statutory deadline and then pay at a later time if needed.  This temporary ordinance expires August 4, 2020.  If you have any question please call business personal property at 435-644-4926 or the county assessor at 435-644-4967

Information and Programs

Primary Residential Exemption:  The primary residential exemption is a 45% reduction in the value of a qualified property. In order to receive the exemption the owner must apply.  To learn more about the exemption click the following link. Primary Residential Exemption Information

 

2019 property values now appear in the Public Retrieval link.  If you feel the county value is incorrect, instructions for filing an appeal will be included on the 2019 Disclosure Notice.  Additional filing information and forms may be obtained on this website under Board of Equalization (BOE).  Appeals for the 2019 tax year have to be submitted to the Kane County Auditor's Office no later than 5:00 PM on September 16, 2019.
